No joint pain is a pleasant experience but some like knee pain can really make it difficult to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Knee joint pain can be acute or chronic. Acute knee joint pain only lasts for a shorter period compared to the chronic form that could last for a very long time.

These days, so many methods of treating joint pains even the ones brought on by arthritis are now available.

The use of over the counter or prescription medications is a common way to treat knee joint pain. But this must be strictly according to the doctor’s instructions. Common medications are acetaminophen drugs , NSAIDS – Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs, and aspirins.

The use of natural supplements like chondroitin and glucosamine are also gaining popularity as a useful alternative in dealing with knee joint pain. Chondroitin and glucosamine are natural substances found in the body and they help in building cartilages in the joint [chondroitin] and fight degeneration of cartilage [glucosamine].

The use of herbs like turmeric, ginger extract, grape seed extract and so on have also been found to be effective in treating knee pains. Home made remedies for treating this condition are also being developed day by day and people are making claims about its effectiveness. If other options do not work, surgery is often used to help treat knee pains. But this is not for everyone and the decision is usually made after other avenues are explored. Whatever treatment option you choose to help deal with your knee joint pain, make sure it is guided by your doctor.
